Exam Subsidy Policy
Deadlines for receipt of applications being (partially) supported by the Department are:
- Monday, 21 September at noon:
- MLC
- MFE/3F
- C/4
- Friday, 2 October at noon:
- P/1
- FM/2
Examination P/1
The next Examination P/1 computer-based testing (CBT) administration is scheduled for 18–30 November 2009. The deadline for receipt (not post-mark date, but receipt) of completed applications is Thursday, 8 October 2009.
Examination FM/2
The next Examination FM/2 computer-based testing (CBT) administration is scheduled for 1–8 December 2009. The deadline for receipt (not post-mark date, but receipt) of completed applications is Thursday, 22 October 2009.
Once registered, you will be given information about how to schedule your examination at a CBT test site.

Applications can be made on-line from links at this web-site. Paper copies of the application can also be printed from this web-site.
Examinations MLC, MFE/3F and C
The next Examination MLC is scheduled for Tuesday, 3 November.
The next Examination MFE/3F is scheduled for Monday, 2 November.
The next Examination C is scheduled for Wednesday, 4 November.
The deadline for receipt (not post-mark date, but receipt) of completed applications for all of these examinations is Thursday, 24 September 2009.

The fees for these examinations, for full-time students, are as follows:

The Department will pick up the full examination fee for the P/1 and FM/2 examinations and 50% of the examination fees for the other examinations subject to the conditions outlined below.
If you need to pay for a part of the examination fee, you should attach a cheque, made payable to 'The University of Michigan,' to your paper application for your portion of the fee.
If you
- are a dues-paying member of the Student Actuaries at Michigan for this academic year (2009-10)
- have successfully completed Mathematics 425 (for Exam P/1); Mathematics 424 (for Exam FM/2); Mathematics 520/521 (for Exam MLC); or the relevant Department of Mathematics' courses for the other examinations
- are a declared Actuarial or Financial Mathematics major
- have not previously received support from the Department for a particular examination
- have a completed resume on file with the Career Centre
then you are eligible to have some, or all, of your examination fee paid by the Department.
Note
Subsidization will be provided only once during the academic year 2009–2010 to a maximum of $175.00 per individual student. (NOTE: This is a change from the subsidization policy of years before 2008.)
No subsidization will be paid for any student registering for more than one examination during any regular examination period.
Deadline
In order to receive a subsidy, you will need to turn a hard copy of the application (along with a copy of your resume) in to one of my offices (in 2084 East Hall OR 2864 East Hall) no later than:
- noon on Monday, 21 September (for Exams MLC, MFE/3F and C); or
- noon on Friday, 2 October (for Exams P/1 and FM/2).
