AIM Student Seminar - Math 501

During the first three semesters, each student is required to participate in the AIM Student Seminar. This is a student-focused seminar series, worth one credit each term (S/U grading), that features a variety of speakers on interdisciplinary topics. Seminar is also coordinated with the Applied and Interdisciplinary Mathematics Research Seminar.

The AIM Student Seminar will (i) present the background to the research discussed at a more advanced level in the week's AIM Research Seminar, (ii) put the work in context and discuss the importance of the results, and (iii) generally provide an introduction to topic of the research seminar. This enables students to derive greater benefit from the existing research seminar series and to gain meaningful exposure to a broad range of problems.

Attendance at such seminars is a vital part of a general interdisciplinary training. Student will be exposed to wide range of research topics. This will in turn foster interactions and camaraderie among AIM students and faculty.
