Abstract Detail

Riemann surfaces with nodes and minimal surfaces without symmetries.
The classical Weierstrass Representation provides a strong connection between minimal surfaces ( or soap-film surfaces ) and complex analysis. All classical examples of minimal surfaces are quite symmetric, in particular they are hyperelliptic. We will see how to use Riemann surfaces with nodes to construct minimal surfaces without symmetries.
