Help!

So you're working your hardest and reading the book. You're doing the assignments and studying every night. But it's just not enough! Where can one find some extra help?

Don't overlook the obvious

Suggestion 1: Read the book. Really really read it. Sit down and read it. Carefully. Again. and again. It's truly an excellent book. As you read, work out the example problems youself.

Suggestion 2: Do lots of individual homework. Do every problem assigned by your instructor on time, and then do a few more for good measure.

Suggestion 3: Check the homework assignments page and work any "in-class suggestions" problems that your section didn't cover in class.

Suggestion 4: Recopy your notes.

Suggestion 5: Start group homework early. Make sure that you can do every problem by yourself.

Seek help and find help

Resource: Talk to your professor. We do everything we can, but we're not perfect. If you tell your professor what's going wrong, (s)he may be able to improve things.

Resource: Try the Math Lab. Tutors there can help you with specific problems. For Free!

Resource: Like using the web? Type "calculus" into any search engine, and you'll get thousands of hits. One can now obtain quite a lot of math help online. Caveat Emptor!

Best wishes!
