Math 216 Differential Equations

Text Supplements

We are pleased to offer you some supplements to the Edwards and Penney text for Math 216. These include a review of complex numbers that enhances the material in Section 3.3 of the text, as well as a brief introduction to the computer package Matlab.

Note that additional information about using Matlab is contained in the document "A Practical Introduction to Matlab" by Mark S. Gockenbach of Michigan Tech in Houghton (brrr!) that can be viewed online or downloaded as a postscript file (better for printing). Thanks to Mark Gockenbach for letting us use his manual as well.

Finally, we have a set of lecture demonstrations that support the text. These are available on the Department's instructional technology server, under ma216 lecture demos. There are also some pencasts covering some material later in the class (note that these are first-pass versions; think of them as a beta-testing product).
