LaTeX

Most mathematics nowadays is written using LaTeX.

An excellent introduction to LaTeX is The Not So Short Introduction to LaTeX2e. (This guide is also available in other languages). A much longer teatise is here. Leslie Lamport's book on LaTex is still a very good reference, though it doesn't include packages written recently.

This Short Math Guide for LaTeX summarizes the math commands in LaTeX (including the packages amsmath and amssymb).

Here are the topics for the LaTeX quiz (which will be administered for the first time on 2/9/11), together with last year's quiz.

quiz2010.tex quiz2010.ps quiz2010.pdf

Here are some LaTeX examples. The first is the file that we created together in class on January 26th.

pstdemo.tex pstdemo.ps pstdemo.pdf

A guide for finding commands for LaTeX symbols is available here.

A LaTeX template for your writing projects is available here.

Mathematica, Maple and MatLab files

Here are the files from the class on computer assisted mathematics: Maple, Mathematica, MatLab 1 and MatLab 2

References and links to tutorials for Mathematica, Maple and Matlab can be found on the Tutorial Web Page
