The Office of the Provost, the College of Literature, Science and the Arts and the Department of Mathematics at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor invite high school students to join Michigan Math and Science Scholars (MMSS), an intensive research-oriented summer program. Michigan Math and Science Scholars Summer Program is designed to benefit a wide variety of students interested in mathematics and science, providing an intensive and supportive setting to preview studying these subjects at the college level. Michigan Math and Science Scholars offers students:
  • Intriguing Mathematics and Science courses taught in small classes by University of Michigan professors.
  • Access to the University of Michigan's computer resources which participants retain throughout their high school careers.
  • Mentoring from professors and graduate student instructors.
  • Exciting environment with peers having similar interests with the potential for life-long friendships.
  • The opportunity to enhance interest and readiness for studying math and science further at the university level. 
  • A chance to participate in the exciting research that is ongoing at the University of Michigan. Students will spend time in research and computer laboratories and doing field work with their professors and catch a glimpse of the amazing career possibilities in math and science that are open to students. Biology course offerings would help anyone interested in medicine, pharmaceutical or veterinary careers. Mathematics and Statistics courses could lead to work in the fields of computer science, national security and military service. Courses in Astronomy, Chemistry, Geology, and Physics expand your way of thinking and could lead you towards a career in teaching or research.
