Oliver Kripfgans: Medical Ultrasound - Therapy and Imaging
Ultrasound poses a number of benefits in health care including low cost, real-time, non-ionizing imaging as well as the ability to perform therapy. Image-guided therapy allows health care practitioners to take advantage of real-time feedback to identify and treat tissues simultaneously. Current efforts on campus and particularly in our group include advances in both imaging and therapy. Specific examples will be shown on acoustically triggered embolo-therapy agents, time-reversal based image correction, blood flow quantification using 3D ultrasound, as well as the next generation, chip-based, ultrasound transducers.
