2013 MMSS Program Fees
Two 2-week sessions are offered and students may elect to attend one or both sessions. A single course is elected for each session and class runs from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm with a one and a half hour break for lunch. Sessions run Monday through Friday for two weeks and over the 4th of July holiday.
Session I: June 23 - July 5, 2013
Session II: July 7 - July 19, 2013
Commuter Students (1 Session) - $1,000
Residential Students (1 Session) - $1,750
Commuter Students (Both Sessions) - $2,000
Residential Students (Both Sessions) - $3,500
There is a $100 application processing fee that must be received by the MMSS program before your application will be considered for admission. The fee is non-refundable. Application fees in the form of a check received after May 1, 2013 will not be deposited unless the student has received an offer of admission. This application fee is not applied towards tuition nor housing.
Program tuition and fees are due by May 24, 2013
Residential students will stay in a University of Michigan residence hall and eat at a residence hall cafeteria. Typically 2 students stay in each room. There are many organized activities after hours and on the weekends to which all students (residential and commuter) are invited and encouraged to participate. Students should bring some spending money in the form of an ATM or debit card with them for evening activities and extra food outside of the regular meals provided. Note that Residential Students are provided breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On the weekends, a reduced meal plan is served.
Optional activities offered for each session include a Saturday trip to the Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio ($65), and a baseball game ($35) to the Lansing Lugnuts (Session 1) and Detroit Tigers (Session 2). Additional weekend AND weekday activities are coordinated by our counselors and range from free-of-charge to $25. These activities are created at the request of the participants.
Other optional fees associated with the MMSS program include a round-trip airport pickup/return service for $50. Shuttles to the Ann Arbor Amtrak Train Station and Greyhound Bus Station are free of charge. Commuter students wishing to eat with their fellow students can pay via cash at the dining hall or purchase a meal card for $90. The meal card will provide one lunch, M-F for two weeks. In addition to a variety of free athletic and recreational equipment the students can use, some participants elect to purchase a pass to the Central Campus Recreation Building (CCRB). A one-month pass is $60 (fee is the same for a two week pass). A counselor must accompany any MMSS student using the CCRB.
Financial Support for Students
To be evaluated for financial support, it will be necessary for the applicant to provide us with a copy of his/her parents' or guardians' front page 2012 tax return. Applications requesting financial support will not be considered until we have this document document (or a copy of the 2011 return with an explanation of circumstances for 2012). Include any additional documentation describing extenuating circumstances as additional justification. International students must submit a corresponding form with all currency converted to USD. Financial aid is limited and awarded on a need-basis.
