DESCRIPTION: Why don’t plants heat up like a black box? To understand this, and how they interact with their environment, we need to begin by measuring their evaporative area, and rate of water transpiration. Simple in concept – harder to do with accuracy! First, we set up a transpiration experiment where the plants had a reservoir of 100 ml of water. This was set out in natural conditions for four hours. This was done for two trees – a maple and an oak.
