I am an applied mathematician, working in the field of numerical methods for differential equations and scientific computing. I develop, analyze and implement numerical methods, primarily for physical systems arising in fluid dynamics. I have done a lot of work on numerical methods for hyperbolic conservation laws, and shock wave phenomena, on modeling the propagation of material interfaces in multilateral flows and on nonreflecting boundary conditions. Application areas include aerodynamics, geophysical, atmospheric and astrophysical flows, and water waves. This is a fascinating multidisciplinary area of work, involving mathematics, numerics, physics of fluids and computer science.
