Nonholonomic Integrators on Lie Groups

Dmitry Zenkov

North Carolina State University

Abstract

Variational integrators proved to be very effective in long-term numerical simulations of holonomic mechanical systems. Recently, such integrators were adapted to work in the nonholonomic setting. This talk will give an overview of the theory. Conservation of momentum by the numerical algorithm will be discussed. This is joint work with Yuri Fedorov.
