Mathematics Colloquium EVENT DETAIL Date:  Tuesday, November 14, 2006 Title:  On positive dimensional symmetry Abstract:  Over the past twenty years we have learned a great deal about finite continuous group actions. In this talk, I will try to describe the first tentative steps we have taken to analyze the positive dimensional situation: some small similarities, and some significant differences between the finite and positive dimensional cases.
