Title:  Representation Theory and Hodge Theory

Abstract:  Lie groups encode fundamental symmetries which occur, for example, in physics and number theory. In these contexts the representations of these groups are of particular importance. A longstanding question is the determination of all the irreducible unitary representations of reductive Lie groups. I will explain how this problem can be approached from the point of view of Hodge theory. This is joint work with Wilfried Schmid.
