Title: Dynamics of group actions on homogeneous spaces and the moduli space
Abstract: Utilizing tools from dynamics to tackle certain problems in number theory and geometry has been quite active and successful over the past few decades. The proofs of the Oppenheim conjecture, arithmetic quantum unique ergodicity, an important partial result towards the Littlewood conjecture, and a weak asymptotic formula for the number of periodic trajectories in rational polygonal billiards are all fruits of this dynamical approach. In this talk we will give an overview of the main results and some basic ideas involved in this approach.
