Mathematics Colloquium EVENT DETAIL Date:  Tuesday, December 15, 2009 Title:  The local Langlands correspondence Abstract:  I will give an introduction to the local Langlands conjecture for a reductive group G over a local field. When G= GL(n), this was proved by Harris-Taylor and Henniart, and when G = GSp(4), it was a recent result of Takeda and myself. I will discuss these recent developments and some extensions.
