Title: Local-global principles, old and new
Abstract: Local-global principles have long played an important role in number theory and in the study of curves over finite fields, beginning with the Hasse-Minkowski theorem on quadratic forms. In recent years such principles have been found for certain "higher dimensional" fields. This talk will discuss these recent results and some applications.
