Title: Theory of solids: from electronic to continuum scales
Abstract: In order to build a complete mathematical theory for solids, we need to study solids at the electronic, atomic and continuum levels. I will discuss recent progress along these lines. I will discuss results obtained on Kohn-Sham density functional theory models of electronic structure, the Cauchy-Born rule,
stability of homogeneously deformed crystals, and recent work on the crystalization problem.
