Title: Algebraic geometry, topology, strings and singularities
Abstract: I will discuss a Brieskorn-Grothendieck program involving certain singularities and Lie algebras. These singularities arise in many different areas of mathematics and physics. I will focus on the case of complex algebraic threefolds relating to topology and physics.
The talk is based on joint projects with Halverson, Shaneson and Weigand.
