Mathematics Colloquium EVENT DETAIL Date:  Tuesday, January 17, 2012 Title:  Virtual geometry of Riemann surfaces and 3-manifolds Abstract:  I will survey my recent joint work with J. Kahn on the Surface Subgroup Theorem, the proof of the Ehrenpreis conjecture and discuss other well known questions in low dimensional geometry and topology that may be studied using these techniques.
