Mathematics Colloquium EVENT DETAIL Date:  Tuesday, February 06, 2007 Title:  Surgery on nullhomologous tori and small 4-manifolds Abstract:  In the past few years there has been significant progress in constructing exotic smooth simply connected 4-manifolds with small 2nd betti number. I will review these results and show how they can be obtained by a unified technique involving surgery on nullhomologous tori.
