Recent but nonetheless elementary combinatorics of permutations has deep connections to the geometry and topology of flag manifolds, as well as to the algebra of ideals generated by minors of matrices filled with variables. This talk will contain an introduction to the relevant combinatorics, and an overview of the relations with algebra and geometry. |
