Tropical rank

Abstract

We will investigate the notion of rank in a tropical setting. In ordinary linear algebra, there are many ways to define the rank of a point configuration / matrix: for instance, as the size of the largest nonsingular minor, or as the dimension of the convex hull of the point configuration. We will consider these and other related notions of rank, and talk about their divergence in tropical-land.
