Tropical mathematics is mathematics done over the min-plus or max-plus semiring (R, min/max, +); it has been a recently burgeoning field with connections to computational biology, algebraic geometry, combinatorics, and many other fields of mathematics. In this talk we discuss tropical polytopes, conducting an investigation of their true nature and using them to construct a nice family of resolutions of monomial ideals. |
