As an introduction to the Fomin/Reading lecture notes "Root Systems and Generalized Associahedra", we explore the basic combinatorial properties of finite root systems and their associated Coxeter groups.

The first lecture will include basic definitions and lots of examples. We will look at Coxeter matrices and diagrams, and we will introduce root systems.
