Ideals of linear type, d-sequences, approximation complexes
The study of algebraic properties of Rees algebras associated to an ideal
has been an important part of commutative algebra in the past twenty
years. In particular, finding criteria to decide when Rees algebras are
Cohen-Macaulay or Gorenstein presents major interest. In this expository
talk, I will discuss some of the main concepts and techniques used in this
theory.
