Jacobians of
curves: an introduction
We'll start with an analytic construction of jacobian variety
(but in more contemporary language than that of original works by Abel)
and then relate it to Weil's construction. An application to number theory
(Mordell conjecture and Shafarevich conjecture) will be discussed briefly.
