Schubert Calculus on Grassmannians
In this talk I will describe some basic facts about the Intersection
Theory on Grassmannians.This will be done by exhibiting a basis for the
integral cohomology ring of these varieties. Remarkably, the structure
constants of this ring are the same as the coefficients appearing in the
product of 2 irreducible characters of GL(n)-modules (that is, the
Littlewood-Richardson numbers).
