Title: Localization on Hilbert and Quot schemes


Abstract: Localization provides a wonderful tool in the explicit computation of intersection numbers on a scheme when the scheme admits an action by an algebraic torus. This talk will overview Atiyah-Bott localization and provide a concrete example on the Hilbert scheme of points on the plane. We will also sketch a more recent application of virtual localization on certain Quot schemes.
