Trees in the boundary of Outer space and their dual laminations by Patrick Reynolds.
Outer space serves as an Out(F)-analogue of Teichmuller space; Outer space has a compactification that is completely analogous to the Thurston compactification of Teichmuller space. We will explain some structural results regarding points in the boundary of the Culler-Vogtmann Outer space and the algebraic laminations on F associated to these actions. We will draw many parallels to the surface theory and will give definitions, so the talk should be broadly accessible. Some of this work is joint with T. Coulbois and A. Hilion. |
