The Riemann-Hilbert approach Abstract:   We consider the normal matrix model with a cubic potential. We develop the Riemann-Hilbert approach to orthogonal polynomials associated with this model, and we obtain their asymptotic behavior on the complex plane as the degree n of the polynomial goes to infinity.
