Title: The pinched ball model for Henon mappings
Abstract: Our best description of Julia sets for polynomials in one variable comes from laminations invariant under $z\mapsto z^d$, leading to the {\em pinched disk model}.
I will describe this, and an attempt at generalizing this description to H\'enon maps, leading to a ``pinched ball model''.
Unlike the case of polynomials, where invariant laminations are well understood, we have only the faintest idea of what ``invariant laminations'' might exist for H\'enon mappings.
