Title: From weak to strong combinatorial Hopf algebras
Abstract: Combinatorial Hopf algebras (CHAs) were defined by Aguiar-Bergeron-Sottile in terms of an algebra map that produces nice quasisymmetric functions. In this talk we will explore recently discovered families of CHAs arising from a coarser version of the representation theory of unipotent matrices of Lie type (A,B,C,D) with coefficients on finite fields. We introduce these Hopf algebras as being combinatorial in an alternative way from the original definition, which depending on their properties are considered weak or strong CHAs. This raises the question: what is a good definition of CHA?
