Title: Fixed directions in mass partitions problems
Abstract: During this talk we explore what measure partition results can be obtained in euclidean spaces if we impose additional geometric restrictions on the partition, in the form of fixing directions of subdividing hyperplanes. This leads to generalizations of Alon's classic necklace-splitting theorem as well as a positive answer to a conjecture by Mikio Kano regarding partitions of R^2 with paths using only vertical and horizontal segments.
