Title:  An introduction to Galois representations

Abstract:   The goal of this talk is to give an overview of Galois representations and how they fit in to the conjectural picture of modern number theory, starting with the 1- and 2-dimensional cases. Much of the talk will be fairly informal, but I will assume knowledge about algebraic number theory, elliptic curves, and group/Galois cohomology (the previous talks on elliptic curves should be enough).
