Title:  An introduction to symmetric spaces

Abstract:   Symmetric spaces are extremely special Riemannian manifolds which may be studied from many perspectives. In this talk, we will introduce a few major aspects of the theory of symmetric spaces, primarily with a geometric emphasis. The focus will be on intuitively understanding definitions and examples, rather than precise statements and proofs of classical theorems.
