Title: Asymptotic stability of polynomial statistics
Abstract: A factorization statistic is any function defined on the space of polynomials which only depends on the factorization type of a polynomial. In this talk I will discuss how the average values of factorization statistics on the space of polynomials with coefficients in a finite field relate to the cohomology of configuration spaces and the representation theory of the symmetric group. In particular, the asymptotic stability of these averages can be interpreted as a concrete manifestation of representation stability.
