Title:  Type II Extremal Transitions in Gromov-Witten theory

Abstract:   Extremal transitions are an important surgery which conjecturally relates any two topologically distinct Calabi-Yau 3-folds (known as Reid's Fantasy). There has been a long-standing interest in understanding how Gromov-Witten invariants change under extremal transitions. In this talk, I will give several examples of Type II extremal transitions and then proceed to explain how one can relate their genus zero Gromov-Witten theories using the language of quantum D-modules.
