The Women in Math club had a great first semester! Here is what is going on second semester with WIM: Meetings: We will be having monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of each month. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, March 20 from 8:30-9:30 pm in 3088 East Hall. Come hear about upcoming events and vote for officers for next year! Future meeting dates: March 20 April TBD Seminars: On Monday, March 26, Professor Trachette Jackson will hold a talk with WIM. The seminar will take place at 3pm in 3088 East Hall. She will talk a little bit about her work in the field of mathematical biology modeling cancer growth, as well as her career path and experiences. Refreshments will be provided. T-shirts: WIM has t-shirts! If you would still like to purchase one, please contact the board.     Social events: WIM’s next social event will be the evening of Friday, March 9! We will either be going bowling or out to dinner. Stay tuned for more details! PI DAY CELEBRATION! Come celebrate Pi Day with WIM! On Wednesday, March 14 at 8:30 pm in 3088 East Hall we will be celebrating Pi Day with a peer advising event to talk about classes for the fall semester, majors and minors, research opportunities, and anything else you want to know! Come with questions, wearing your WIM t-shirt, and come hungry because pie will be served! Tutoring: Join WIM for tutoring at Slauson Middle School on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:30 pm. We will be leaving via AATA bus around 2:30pm. If you are interested in helping out, please email Sarah for more information. We are also looking for potential drivers! Prospective Students: If you are a prospective student and would like to hear more about what life is like as a math student at Michigan or talk with a current undergraduate, please email us at women.in.math.prospectivestudents@umich.edu!
