Project NExT

Every summer, Project NExT runs a workshop for new Ph.D.s in the mathematical sciences. The workshop precedes the MAA's Mathfest, and includes breakout sessions, panel discussions, keynote presentations and more in-depth courses. The workshop is attended by the new Project NExT Fellows, who are active and enthusiastic as they enter the profession, and the workshop sessions are run by effective, experienced mathematicians who are able to provide insight on different aspects of the career that the new Fellows are entering. Long breaks and mealtimes provide opportunities for Fellows and presenters to continue conversations informally and to network. Here is a sample program from a previous workshop.

If you know of a presenter you think would be appropriate for the workshop, we encourage you to nominate them using the form below, noting that

• nomination does not guarantee that we will be able use an individual in the workshop (we have to balance many variables in constructing the workshop program, and as a result may not use many good nominees);
• self-nominations are completely appropriate; and
• we are particularly interested in nominations for presenters who are able to speak to topics including (1) using technological and social networking to enhance teaching (e.g., Facebook, twitter, podcasts, RSS feeds, etc.), (2) using cooperative learning effectively in and out of the classroom, (3) the interaction between mathematics education research and instructors in mathematics classes.
